60th Birthday Card - Coffee Cafe

I just realized that I never posted the card I made for my hubby for his 60th birthday last July! He loves Starbuck's coffee, so I had to use the Coffee Cafe bundle for his card! He really liked it, too!

I used the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper (DSP) on this card, and it's one of the DSP packs that's included in the Buy 3 Get 1 Free Sale. It really goes well with this card. Don't forget...this sale ends on October 31!

Dimensions:
  • Garden Green:  5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (card base) & 2" x 1-1/2" (cup band)
  • Crumb Cake:  5-1/4" x 4" (base layer) & scraps (coffee beans)
  • Early Espresso:  2-1/4" x 4" (DSP mat)
  • Whisper White:  3-1/4" x 3" (cup, lid, & numbers) & 5-1/4" x 4" (inside of card)
  • Soft Sky:  3-1/2" x 3-1/4" ( "Happy Birthday" die-cut)
  • Coffee Break Designer Series Paper (DSP):  2" x 4" (dotted paper), 5-1/4" x 1" (Soft Sky print inside card), & small coffee cup
Instructions:
  1. Stamp the Burlap Background Stamp onto the large Crumb Cake piece using the Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad. Attach the dotted paper from the Coffee Break DSP piece across the center of the Early Espresso piece, and then attach it to the left side of the Crumb Cake piece.
  2. Fold the large Garden Green piece in half to form the card base (fold on top). Attach the Crumb Cake/DSP piece to the card base.
  3. Die-cut the Happy Birthday Thinlits Die out of the Soft Sky piece. Attach it to the bottom, right corner of the Crumb Cake layer using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen. Stamp the coffee beans stamp from the Coffee Cafe Stamp Set two times onto scraps of Crumb Cake Cardstock using the Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad. Die-cut both coffee bean sets out with the coordinating die from the Coffee Cups Framelits Dies. Attach them both above the Happy Birthday die-cut using Mini Glue Dots.
  4. Stamp the large coffee cup stamp from the Coffee Cafe Stamp Set onto the smaller Whisper White piece using the Early Espresso ink pad. Stamp the lid stamp onto the same piece using the same ink pad. Stamp the "6" & "0" block stamps from the Labeler Alphabet Stamp Set onto the same piece with the same ink pad. Stamp the "TH" stamp from the same alphabet stamp set onto the bottom, right corner of the cup image with the same ink pad. Die-cut the coffee cup and lid out with their coordinating dies from the Coffee Cups Framelits Dies. Fussy cut the number blocks out with Paper Snips. Attach the number blocks next to the "TH" on the cup using Mini Glue Dots. Attach the lid to the top of the cup.
  5. Die-cut the cup band out of the smaller Garden Green piece using the solid, embossing cup band die. Attach the cup band across the cup. Attach a heart from the Corrugated Elements to the center of the cup band. Wrap Linen Thread around four fingers about five or six times and cut it off of the thread in the package. Slip the thread off of the fingers, and twist the loops together in the middle. Lay the twisted middle onto the back, middle of the cup, and attach it by putting a Stampin' Dimensional over the twisted part of the thread. Put a few more Stampin' Dimensionals onto the back of the cup, and attach it to the top, left corner of the card, at an angle. Spread the loops of the thread apart a bit.
  6. Inside of card:  Attach the Soft Sky print paper from the Coffee Break DSP across the bottom of the larger Whisper White piece. Die-cut one of the small cups in the designer paper with small coffee cups all over it using the small cup die from the Coffee Cups Framelits Dies. Attach the cup to the top, left side of the DSP strip. Attach the whole thing to the inside of the card.

Eclipse Technique - Painted Harvest

Today's card is one that my monthly technique club made last month. It features the Eclipse Technique. If you're on Pinterest, I'm sure you've seen it used A LOT! I used one of my all time favorites, the Painted Harvest Stamp Set. As you can see, I didn't use it as a sunflower this time.

Dimensions:
  • Elegant Eggplant:  5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (card base)
  • Smoky Slate:  5-1/4" x 4" (base layer)
  • Whisper White:  (2) 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" (stamped layer and inside)
  • Smoky Slate 1/2" Gingham Ribbon:  7" & 5"
Instructions:
  1. Fold the Elegant Eggplant piece in half to form card base (fold on top). Attach the Smoky Slate piece to the center of the card base.
  2. Stamp the "happy birthday" stamp from the Birthday Blossoms Stamp Set using the Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the larger flower stamp from the Painted Harvest Stamp Set two full times and one partial time onto the top part of the Whisper White piece using the Wisteria Wonder Classic Stampin' Pad (see the left picture for placement). The bottom, right flower should be about 3/4" above the greeting. Stamp the smaller flower stamp on top of the stamped flowers using the Elegant Eggplant Classic Stampin' Pad. FYI:  The center of the flower images is what needs to be lined up when stamping the darker flower layer. Stamp the flower center stamp into the center of both full flowers and the partial (if needed), using the Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pad.
  3. Lay the "Y", "O", and "U" dies from the Large Letters Framelits Dies across the flower section of the piece, centering it in-between the left & right sides of the piece (see the left picture for placement). Run it through the Big Shot. Remove the die-cut letters, making sure to keep the center of the "O". Wrap the longest Smoky Slate 1/2" Gingham Ribbon piece around the piece, just above the greeting, and attach the ribbon ends to the back using SNAIL Adhesive. Tie the smallest ribbon piece onto the left side of the ribbon using a single knot. Attach the piece to the center of the Smoky Slate layer on the card. Make sure to put SNAIL Adhesive on the pointed part of the "Y' opening and the center sections of the "U" opening.
  4. Attach the letters inside their coordinating openings in the Whisper White layer using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. Put SNAIL Adhesive onto the back of the center of the "O". Insert it inside the "O" die-cut, and attach it to the card.
  5. Inside of Card (right picture):  Stamp the flower, the same way as the front, onto the bottom, left corner of the Whisper White inside piece (refer to Step #2 ). Attach the piece to the inside of the card.
Note:  When attaching the "O" and it's center, make sure the pieces are right side up (the images should line up).

Merry Cafe Gate-Fold Card - CPC76

Here's my submission for the Creating Pretty Cards Sketch #76 (CPC76). This sketch has a little twist, as it uses a special fold called the Gate-Fold. CLICK HERE to see the sketch, and to get the mini tutorial on how Regina made her card. The instructions for my card are below.

If you play along with the CPC76 sketch, you could win a FREE month subscription to Craft Project Central! With every 10 cards submitted, a winner will be drawn. If a CPC designer, like me, submits a card, it'll go towards the card count, but won't be in the drawing. Please go to the CPC76 post to get all of the dos and don'ts. You must submit your card by October 31!

  • Early Espresso:  8-1/2" x 5-1/2" (card base) & 2-1/2" x 3/4" (cup lid)
  • Cajun Craze:  3" x 4" (embossed layer mat)
  • Soft Sky:  2-3/4" x 3-3/4" (embossed layer)
  • Crumb Cake:  2-1/4' x 1-1/2" (embossed cup band)
  • Very Vanilla:  4-1/4" x 1-3/4" (stamped cup band, greeting oval, & mini cup) & 4" x 5-1/4" (inside of card)

  • Jute Twine:  9" (bow)
Instructions:
  1. With the 8-1/2" sides on the top and bottom, and using the score blade in the Stampin' Trimmer, score the largest Early Espresso piece at 2-1/8" on each side. Fold along the score lines to close the gate-fold card. Attach the DSP side flap pieces to the outside of both side flaps of the card.
  2. Emboss the Soft Sky piece by running it through the Big Shot with the Pinewood Planks 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Attach the piece to the center of the Cajun Craze piece. Put SNAIL Adhesive onto the back of the left half of the Cajun Craze mat piece, and attach it to the bottom of the left card flap. (see picture). The right side of the piece will hang over the left card flap.
  3. Stamp the "Hello Fall..." stamp from the Merry Cafe Stamp Set onto one side of the smaller Whisper White strip using the Cajun Craze Classic Stampin' Pad. Die-cut the words out using the cup band framelit die, making sure the greeting is at the top of the cup band. Stamp the maple-like leaf outline stamp onto each end of the bottom of the cup band using the Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the maple-like leaf bold stamp into the inside of each leaf outline using the Tangerine Tango Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the multi-leaf branch outline stamp onto the bottom center of the band using the Early Espresso ink pad. Stamp the multi-leaf branch bold stamp inside the outline using the Soft Sky Classic Stampin' Pad.
  4. Die-cut the embossed cup band die from the Coffee Cups Framelits Dies out of the Crumb Cake piece. Cut the band in half lengthwise. Attach the bottom Crumb Cake band half to the bottom of the greeting band, and attach the top Crumb Cake band half to the top of the greeting band. Make sure some of the Crumb Cake band shows from the front of the greeting band on the top and bottom. If necessary, trim off the sides of the bottom half Crumb Cake band that are hanging past the sides of the greeting band.
  5. Die-cut the largest cup die out of the last DSP piece. Attach the coffee band from Step 4 across the center of the cup. Stamp the lid stamp onto the smallest Early Espresso piece using the Early Espresso ink pad. Die-cut it out with the lid die. Attach the lid to the top of the cup. Attach the whole cup to the center of the Soft Sky layer using Stampin' Dimensionals. Tie the Jute Twine into a bow, and attach it to the left side of the cup lid using a Mini Glue Dot.
  6. Stamp the "perk up" cup stamp onto the same Very Vanilla piece as above, using the Cajun Craze ink pad. Die-cut it out with the smallest cup die. Stamp the "love is brewing" stamp onto the same Very Vanilla piece using the Early Espresso ink pad. Die-cut it out with the oval die. Attach the oval to the small cup, covering up the "perk up" section of it. Put a Stampin' Dimensional onto the back, center of the small cup. Hold the card closed, and attach the small cup next to the top, left corner of the main image piece, making sure some of the small cup is over the corner of the main image piece. This will keep the card closed. To open the card, slide the main image piece out from under the small cup. To close, tuck the top, right corner of the main image piece back under the small cup.
  7. Inside of the Card:  Stamp the "Apple Cider" stamp onto the bottom, left corner of the largest Very Vanilla piece using the Early Espresso ink pad. Stamp the heart-like shaped stamp inside the apple image using the Cajun Craze ink pad. Stamp the"a cup of" stamp above "apple cider" using the Tangerine Tango ink pad. Open the card, and attach the piece to the middle section of the card's inside.

Short & Sweet Saturday - Merry Patterns

I'm a little late today, but here's this week's Short & Sweet Saturday card. I've actually covered the two promos that Stampin' Up! is having right now, and the one that I'm offering myself on this card.

I used the exclusive host set, Merry Patterns. This set can only be obtained by hosting a $300 order (before shipping & tax) by October 31. I'm loving this stamp set, and you can see the other cards I've made with it by CLICKING HERE. You can even get this if you place a $300 order all by yourself! Click the "Merry Patterns" picture at the bottom of this post to find out more.

I used the Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper on this card, as well. It's one of the designer series papers included in the Buy 3 Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper Sale Stampin' Up! is having right now. You can CLICK HERE to see the rest of the designer series paper that is included in this great sale.

I also used the beautiful Foil Snowflakes. You can get these free from me if you place a qualifying online order at my Online Store. You can see the other cards I've made using these pretty snowflakes by CLICKING HERE. You can find out the ways to get these Foil Snowflakes free from me by clicking the October Host Code picture below.

  • Pool Party:  8-1/2" x 5-1/2" (card base) & 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" (deer mat)
  • Whisper White:  4" x 5-1/4" (embossed layer) & 2-1/4" x 3-1/4" (deer layer)
  • Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper (DSP):  3" x 4" (snowflake paper)
  • Foil Snowflakes:  1/2 silver snowflake
Instructions:
  1. Emboss the largest Whisper White piece by running it through the Big Shot with the Holly Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Attach the DSP piece onto the embossed layer, putting it on at an angle (see picture for placement). Fold the largest Pool Party piece in half (fold on the left) to form the card base. Attach the embossed layer to the card base.
  2. Stamp the deer outline stamp from the Merry Patterns Stamp Set onto the bottom of the smallest Whisper White piece using the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad. Stamp the sweater-designed deer stamp inside the deer outline using the Pool Party Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the "Merry Christmas' stamp across the top of the piece using the Memento Pad. Attach the piece to the center of the smallest Pool Party piece.
  3. Put SNAIL Adhesive along the back of the left edge of the Pool Party mat piece. Cut one silver snowflake in half. Attach the straight side of the half-snowflake to the adhesive on the back of the Pool Party mat. Attach the whole thing to the bottom, right side of the card (see picture).

Note:  Please disregard the $13 price listed for the Merry Patterns Stamp Set in the following supply list. The site I use for this list has the information wrong. It should say $0.00. This stamp set can only be obtained with a $300 order (before shipping & tax), and then it would be free.
